No cavity Susan will strike

Unfortunately, I had to return home to SC this long weekend for the dreadful dentist appointment on Monday. Somehow, being away at college has prevented me from attending any of my teeth cleaning in the past year and a half. When I finally went after new year's, the doomed news is that I have cavities!
So I go in today, and my doctor has all sorts of things about him posted everywhere in the office, his diving certificates, flying permits, some kind of doo black belt. I feel like he is very overworked and would enjoy doing any of those things than look at one more tooth again. Nonetheless I let the overworked man fix my teeth. On one side of my face he went to town on the novocaine and that side of the face including my eye was numb for about three hours after; on the other side, somehow he decided to save some for the next patient, and I could feel my tooth crying when he was drilling on that side. All in all, it was a very unfortunate experience and I wish to never endure that again; not to mention that South Carolina sucks at any kind of medical insurance and I had to pay 300 dollars and probably more later on.
But I have decided, I will brush my teeth until my hand is sore because I will not allow any more of this nonsense.
Driving back was pretty fun, it was a beautiful day. And eating Kentucky beef jerky and singing Celine Dion and Ashlee Simpson songs in the car with my Dad is an experience that I would recommend to anyone. Then I took him to the pit, which later my friends asked if I really hated my dad that much to take him there. But he said he didn't really have that kind of college experience in China, and I think he really enjoyed it. I think I'm over that teenage phase where I refuse to be seen doing anything with the person that I share genetic information with. Now that I'm over it, I enjoy getting to him as a person rather than someone who was ordering me to clean my room and study for the SAT.
That's my little rant for today, 29 pages of history reading will not start by itself.

Last Lazy Day

Things I will not get to do once school starts:

  • Wake up without an alarm clock
  • Nap without an alarm clock
  • Watch endless episodes of criminal minds
  • Have money
  • Maintain good hygiene
  • Read lots of food blogs
One more recipe to share. Made it for Daniel's Birthday and it was pretty delicious, especially with ice cream!
Irish Cream cake.

Ingredients
1 package of chocolate cake mix
1 package of vanilla pudding mix
1 cup of water
1/2 cup of Bailey's
1/3 cup of oil
3 eggs

Procedures:
combine ingredients, mix well.
350 degrees for 40 minutes in bundt pan. Or just follow the direction on the cake box.
Whatever toppings you like! A little dusting of powdered sugar is always nice.

A Week in the North

So I just got back from my 1 week vacation in Newtown CT. Man, what a hopping spot, people are really missing out on the crazy shenanigans this town has to offer. The town's only main street was where the party was at. No sarcasm whatsoever, of course.
Although the temperature during the trip was unrelenting, sitting in the car with seat warmers and cozying up to a fire with blankys were pretty comforting. Since now I am home and bored once again I decided to recall the trip as much as I can. I wish I can pair it with pictures, however, my camera decided to only take entirely black pictures right before I left. I was pretty devastated, I can't be my regular asian tourist self without my camera!! Oh well, I probably made Matt a lot less angry by not pointing a camera to his face every five minutes, however, that did not satisfy me because it is my duty as his girlfriend to annoy him as much as possible. But here goes the recollection.

Tuesday(29th)
The trip started out well, quiet, peaceful, until I got on that Dash 8 model airplane from Philadelphia to White Plains. I know the economy is horrible but US airways, please update your plane selection, the plane looked so old that I thought the whole thing was going to rust away mid air. And for those propellers, you know how in the summer you get mosquitoes buzzing next to your ear or the fly that will just not leave you alone, well times that annoyance to the size of an airplane. I constantly imagined a flock of geese just hitting the propellers and getting skinned. And since the plane was so small, it couldn't withstand the wind, and I thought I was going to puke up everything that resides in my upper body while the snooty flight attendant chuckled and smirked at my reactions to the Many bumps to the plane.
Sorry for the rant, however Matt got me and everything was good.

Wednesday(30th)
I really can't remember what we did that day, I probably tried to watch TV while Matt flipped the channel every 5 seconds, even to things we were watching! I probably gulped on green tea ginger ale (one of my new obsessions) and yelled at matt and tried to steal the remote control.
I think we did watch real world dc and Andrew is just such a character.
OH. Discovered the little chocolate balls Matt's mom made and they're like little pieces of heaven. I had a lot of heaven that day.
Fortunately I got the recipe, and I plan to make a lot of them before school so I can munch!!

Oreo Truffles

Ingredients:
18oz bag Oreos
8 oz cream cheese
White chocolate bars

Procedure:
-Crush Oreos
-In large bowl, beat oreos with softened cream cheese.
-Roll into small balls of goodness
-Dip in white melted chocolate.
-Adding a drop or two peppermint extract to the chocolate would be really tasty.

Thursday(New Year's Eve)
SNOW! Except we made a plan to go to the Yankee candle outlet, and the roads were terrbile, I have never seen so many accidents in my life. The one car that looked like it skidded and just straight backed up to a rock was pretty hilarious. Then we changed plans to go to IKEA!! Which I was more than happy to do so. I feel like half the things in the store are things that people already have but still want, why? Because it's from IKEA, and it looks cool, and hey even if I never use this cup or plate, it still only cost me about 89 cents.
Then we had a dinner of little appetizers, and I definitely ate too many of french bread with melted brie on it. Then of course we watched the ball drop while I laughed away as Matt tried to back up dance to J-Lo and Justin Bieber.
And then New Year's!! Matt and his Dad were not too keen on the sparkling wine ( I guess I can only call it champagne if it was from the Champagne France) but I happily obliged and drank my share.

Friday( New Year's Day)
Yankee Candle Outlet!
My nose was put to good use because I attempted to smell every candle. But there were so many things there, home decorations, food, body products. I thought it was pretty funny when Matt's Dad said the cart looked sad and I think we had enough candles.
Then.. Criminal Minds Marathon!
It is my new favorite show, the Behavior Analysis Unit of the FBI profile the UnSub (which stands for Unknown Subject in Investigation, according to my wikipedia skills) and does psychological analysis and is just all around pretty great.
I think it will severely limit my option of activities however. For example, there is no way I would get a cabin in the middle of nowhere Vermont again because I might get spied on by some creepy dude, or go to a bank again because a robber is going to come and make everyone undress. And I made Matt sleep in the guest room with me because I cannot have masked murderers coming into my room at night. Would Matt protect me? Probably not, but at least I'm not the only target.

Saturday(2nd)
Played Grand Theft Auto, got killed in Grand Theft Auto.
Went to see Sherlock Holmes.
Annoyed Matt.
Left my hair in his bathroom floor.
Annoyed Matt some more, ate more goodness balls, watched Matt be his stupid self.

Sunday(3rd)
Went to his uncle's house for dinner. Talked to his uncle's neighbor for 20 minutes about what he does for a living and I still have no clue. Some scrabble action and fudge action. Yay.
Watched Harold and Kumar, usually I like to annoy Matt during movies, except I was pretty entranced by this movie. So less annoying today.

Monday(4th)
Went to NYC!
My ears almost fell off because they were so cold and refused to stay on my head.
Went to Schnipper's Quality Kitchen, because we saw it on Bobby Flay's Ultimate Throwdown on the sloppy joe episode so we went all the way there to eat it. And it was pretty darn delicious.
Went to American Museum of Natural History except the cab driver dropped us off at the Met. How Metropolitan Museum of Art and American Museum of Natural History sound alike I will never know.
I taught Matt about the ways of my ancestors, while he made fun of my people. Typical.

Oh we also saw Mayor Bloomberg talking about census in Times Square

Tuesday(5th)
Leaving, but not before I blow dry my hair and leave more hair annoyances on Matt's bathroom floor.
Felt sick because the night before Matt decided to make a fire and induced a fever in me.
Nothing really interesting about the trip except the flight attendant on the first flight twitched her head to the right after every couple of word. I couldn't help but stare, but then I thought she probably thought I was just an attentive passenger who was very interested in safety procedures and exit locations.
Finally made it home and slept on my comfortable bed.

All and all, it was a very nice and relaxing trip. Wish I can just do nothing all day, except, oh no. School is starting soon!
